A research in recycling climbing holds made from Polyurethane.

Most of the commercial climbing halls the holds have a lifespan of around 2-3 years before they are disregarded. Modern holds these holds are made from polyurethane. They are not recycled because of metal mounting rings that are inside the hold. The holds itself are made in beautiful shapes and colours. Giving new life to the old climbing holds. I started to study the shapes, colours and material. Looking to harbour unique qualities of the material.

Finding different ways of crushing, cutting and shaving the material. I ended up with samples that were 80% made from recycled PU. To keep the new material pure and easier to recycle in the future the added material is also PU.
